Global LCD TV 2005 market growth 116 pct - Analysys

The global market for TFT-LCD (thin-film transistor liquid crystal display) televisions, in terms of units shipped, is estimated to have grown 116 pct last year to 15.05 mln sets, Beijing research house Analysys International said.

This compares to global growth of 120 pct in 2004, it said in a statement.
It said China still lags competitors South Korea and Taiwan in panel production.

'China is only at the initial phase of large size TFT-LCD panel production,' said analyst Zhao Yazhou, adding that it needs to focus on technology innovation in order to make greater inroads in the global market.
